Site for Canton-Kowloon Railway Terminus.
With reference to the recent inti & Anda sir
Paul Chater, Eir. Osborne and I had with Messrs. Pollock and Murray Stewart in connection with the proposed site for the above railway terminus, at the request of Mr. Hurray Stewart I beg to specify the amended terms, which, as stated at that meeting, would be accepted by the Wharf and Reclamation Companies.
(I).
(II).
The Wharf Company will reduce the value of its buildings from £90,000 to $70,000.
The Reclamation Company will accept at $2.75 per square foot the land previously resumed from thet Company at 82.75.
If the Government accept these amended terms and all other details as set forth in the correspondence which has passed on the subject, the Wharf and Reclamation Companies are willing to leave the question as to how payment by Government will actually be made, in abeyance, say for three months, it being understood and agreed that on or before the 14th. June next, the Government will definitely decide whether they will themselves retain the land situated to the North of Salisbury Road, or hand it over to the Reclamation Company as a set-off against cost of Marine Lots 74 and 75.
I trust the foregoing will meet with Your Excel- -loncy's approval, and that I may hear from Your Excellency that the scheme as proposed by the two Companies is now finally accepted and approved by Government.
is Excellency
Sir Frederick Lugard, G.C.M.G.,
